Internet Explorer Process remain running when IE is closed

When I close Internet Explorer 6 on my WinXP Pro system,
the processes in the Task Manager still remain there and
do not go away. If I open up IE and close it ten times,
there will be ten processes in the task manager still
running. Any ideas on what is causing this and how I can
fix it?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

I have this problem only worse...CPU utilization goes up to 100% for the
instance of IE that shows as running on TM. If I open and close is 3 times
each still running instance of IE takes 33% and so on. The only time this
occurs is when I go to my "my.msn.com" page. If that's also your problem no
one has a cure for it yet except to stay away from my.msn.com page.
