internet explorer problem

something weird is happening to my ie. whenever i try to open a new window it
keeps on closing the old one. so i always have only 1 ie window open at a
time. this happens regardless if i click on a link or a new ie window by
clicking the ie logo.

i did not change any settings on it. is this a adware infection? how do i
fix this?

Hi berbard,

The current focus of the IE... can be set from

Tools-->> internet options
then click the Advanced tab...

In the browsing section there is an option

" reuse windows for launching shortcuts... "

its between..

notify when download completes and
show friendly http error messages...

Hope this helps

Have you tried this?
Tools-Internet Options-Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"

If that is not the problem, then perhaps it is a toolbar you have
added?
Try removing extra toolbars, in particular, the Yahoo toolbar.

If the above doesn't help, please post to an IE group and mention you
are using XP.

IE6/OE6 newsgroups.
