Internet Explorer 'Inbox'

Hi,
I was recently on the net and typed in an incorrect URL in the explorer bar.
Immediately some bloody porn site appeared with windows popping up all over
the place and I could not get rid of them, even with Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
By finally closing God knows how many windows I was left with one small
window called 'Internet Explorer Inbox' that would not go no matter what I
did.
I turned off the machine and restarted and it was gone.
I ran Webroot spyware scan and McCafee virus check with everything disabled
and the web cable pulled out as I was worried, no bad results from either.
Is 'Internet Explorer Inbox' valid or is some kind of scam, virus or
something?
I've never seen it before and I would like to hear anyone's thoughts on the
matter,
Regards,
Alan.

I would run the MS Antispyware tool as well as Adaware and Spybot Search %
Destroy, all available from http://www.majorgeeks.com.
left column, spyware tools, pick from the list, download and install.
Good Luck!

Thanks, but I've done all that and more, no dodgy results.
To my original question though, has anyone seen this too?
Regards,
Alan.
