internet explorer has been hijacked by

I got rid of about blank...It's taken awhile but is gone..gone..gone
I tryed several of the suggestions here, plus lots of the free down loads to
rid my computer, nothing worked completley. I then bought adaware and ran
there program, It helped but each time after I scaned I had 975 coolweb
infected files.In the configuration file it showed about blank as my default
page, I changed it to my internet comp. earthlink.Then with their help
through their support page, I was told to download cwsheddar, After I ran it,
I lost my internet home page, but I just went into my system configure and
ran the internet system repair. I shut down and then went back on. Re ran
both programs and it is now gone. I run cwsheddar every time I sign off the
internet and scan every few days with adaware. So far it has not come back
and I no longer have the coolweb sites. I tried cwsheddar by itself in the
begining and it did not clear it all up..Plus I tried the free adware and it
did not work as well as the purchase one. It took both these programs
together to get rid of about blank

I'm glad that you where finally able to rid your system of "about blank" it
can be a royal pain in the _ss.You could have advoided all of this trouble by
changing a few default settings which would have stopped the download of
it.Such as.

To help stop unauthorized downloads via your activex controls change your
default settings.
These settings are good for XP. The wording should be close for other systems
as well.
Go to control panel and open "internet options".
Click on the security tab then custom level.
make sure these settings are as follows.

Download signed active x controls>set to prompt
Download unsigned active x controls>set to disable
Initialize and script active x controls not marked as safe>set to disable
Run active x controls and pluggins>set to enable
Script active x controls marked safe for scripting>set to enable
Java permissions>set to high
Launching programs and files in a IFRAME" > Prompt
Installation of Desktop items"> Prompt
Navigate sub-frames across different domains>prompt
