Internet Explorer freezes when browsing

Constant problem with IE freezing when I'm browsing the
internet, particularly when working in my school email
account. The browser gets hung up, hourglass appears and
remains "stuck." Have to CTRL ALT DEL to get out. Anyone
know how to fix this? :(
 
ARE U RUNNING XP? IF SO, DID U DOWNLOAD THE CURRENT
UPDATE FOR IE 6 SP1? IF SO, UNINSTALL IT. THERE IS AN
ISSUE WITH IT. IN THE MEANTIME OUR SECURITY PEOPLE ARE
RECOMMENDING MOZILLA UNTIL MICROSOFT COMES UP WITH A
BETTER UPDATE.
 
Thanks for the tip, although I don't think I downloaded
the update for XP (yes, I'm running XP home edition--just
got the computer in October, 2003). I've done a system
restore. What is Mozilla?
