Internet Explorer 6 screen freezes

Please post your response.

I have IE6 with Service Pack 1 running on Windows 98
Second Edition, and a Pentium III 500 MHz, with 128MB RAM.

Lately, several times a day, the IE screen freezes on me
when I'm browsing the Internet, reading articles, etc. The
only way to get out is by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del (it then
says that the IE program is not responding), and end the
application. But it happens all the time.

It doesn't seem to be happening with Outlook Express, only
IE6.

Can anyone suggest why and how to solve it?

Thanks.

Boris

I had the same experience with windows 98 and ME in the
past. If you click on a link, it will load into IE, when
the transmission stops or pauses half way, it will freeze
IE which causing user inaccessable. Give IE a few more
seconds to response, sometime it takes a minute or more.
Closing it with Alt-Ctrl-Del could cause some files to
loose it's chain in your hard drive and makes IE worst
than the first. Try reducing the cache size (Temporary
Internet Files) to 64mb or smaller so IE could find the
cache files faster without pausing the browser. other
cause could be some programs running in system tray. You
can try to close most of them for one day and see if it
improves IE.
