Internet Explorer error

I recently upgraded an older computer from Win98 to Win2000 and everything
seems to work fine except when I try to use the internet. We have DSL which
worked fine with WIN98, but now when I connect in Internet Explorer, it stay
on for a couple of minutes then gives me an error message that says the
program is shutting down and will have to be restarted and it does. Anyone
have any advice?

upgrades from win98 to win2k are likely to be troublesome.

best to backup your data a perform a clean install.
