Internet Explorer encounters problem, needs to close

My Internet Explorer does this ALL the time. It brings up a window saying
Internet Explorer encounters problem and needs to close, sorry for the
inconvienance. Why does it do that. The other day. I deleted my cookies. What
can you do to not let tihis happen all the time. Most cases it says the
problem are: shdocvw.dll,
C:/DOCUME~1\Marissa\LOCALS~1\Temp\ef2d_appcompat.txt,"
"Temp\e665_appcompat.txt." "\Temp\ea51_appcompat.txt, now why does it do
that....???? It would be great if anybody knew. Thanks!
