Internet Explorer Closes when Domain Changes in Address Bar

Hi-

Last night, my Internet Explorer started exhibiting some very odd
behaviour. I am using the latest version of IE and running on Windows
XP Home. I can open IE to my home page or to any other site by using
the run command from the start menu. Once in that site, I can browse
around just fine. Once I change domains my typing something into the
address bar and hit enter or go, IE closes. If I click the Home
button IE closes. If I clicke any of my bookmarks IE closes.

I have tried deleting all my temporary internet files, cookies, and
objects. I have also cleared out all spyware using adaware. If I use
netscape the problem does not occur. I also know it is not a
particular domain problem because If I open IE to a domain using the
run command it works fine, but if I navigate to it IE closes.

Please advise if possible.

I can't help you on this, but I have a simliar problem
when I try to use my Website authoring tool from
Fasthosts. It closes IE when I type in the user name and
password. I wonder if this is a Microsoft glitch or virus
problem. I have also deleted everything that I can.

let me know if you have any luck.

Well, I was not able to isolate the problem. However, I did get it
down to a problem in the user the profile. Something, although I
don't know what must have been corrupted. The way I fixed it was to
create a new user profile, moved over my documents, music, pictures,
etc to the new profile, then deleted the old profile and now
everything works fine.

The other option is to do a rollback to system state before the
problem occured, but that may only help if it is a user profile
corruption. You should try creating a new user profile and seeing if
the problem occurs when logged in as that user.
