Internet Explorer cannot

Hi

I'm using XP Pro SP2 with IE7, when ever I access properties from the
desktop to change my wallpaper or adjust screen res. etc. I get the following
errors -->

"Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. This file is
needed for your Active Desktop. To turn off Active Desktop, click OK." <---
this causes my screen to blank out to white, I click on refresh and my
desktop returns to normal.

I've searched the Knowledge Base and these are no help --> Article ID:
811113 and Article ID: 838199 and Article ID: 193110

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall several times, I've used reg cleaners,
I've tried using a new user account as well as the guest account. I've
unregistered and re registered MSHTML.DLL (although there are about a dozen
instances of this file)

I hope some one can help.

Thanx!

Douwe

Try toggling the active desktop setting on and off, with a a restart in
between.

Rightclick the desk, Properties, Desktop tab, "Customize Desktop" button,
Web tab, put a check in 'my home page', and OK, restart. Then remove the
check, and restart.
