I have just set up a PC for my boss to use on his desk. It's thru our W2000
network. Computer is on and available on network. Have updated virus defs
using VET, used programme to update via their server. Can send email using MS
Outlook. However, IE browser window hangs upon opening. Tried to run Windows
update as the PC has not been used in a while, which opened a number of
browsers, all of which did not connect to his default homepage.

Hmmm... I don't know what is wrong with IE, and do not know how I am going
to open Windows update to try and fix this.

Anyone have advice?

Thanks
Carolyn

add/remove progs, select internet explorer click remove and the option to
repair ie should come up, select repair and see if that fixes problem

I am having an IE hang problem on startup as well. If I clear all the IE
caches, the text on the home page loads faster, but the web image (the home
page is Google) still takes a while to load. Anyway, after hitting a couple
of pages it goes right back to hanging. If I wait a minute or two, the page
eventually loads fully, but it's driving me crazy. I suspected a Windows
update issue, but unloading and reloading of the more recent updates has no
effect.

I can't find IE displayed as a program available to remove or change in the
control panel, so it looks like running repair is out. Any other suggestions?
This is a Win2k Terminal Services box, IE 6

Thanks.
