Internet Explorer 7

When I try to go on the internet using Internet Explorer 7 in Vista I get an
error message that is headed "Microsoft Visuall C++ Runtime library" in the
message box. it indicates "Runtime Error Program C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe†abnormal program termination".
Internet Explorer which had gone to the requested internet site and started
loading it on the screen,, then closes. Is there a way to fix this? I can't
find IE7 on the Vista installation disk to reinstall the IE7 program. I've
tried all the fixes recommened in the help files and removed Google search to
no avail. Is reinstalling Vista the only way to fix this?

Try resetting your Internet Explorer settings, open Control Panel > Internet
Options > Advanced (tab) > under 'Reset Internet Explorer settings' > click
'Reset'. Try browsing again.

Skip, that sound like some kind of "Add On" or "Helper" problem, are you
sure you removed or disabled all add ons and such and also that you have
no spyware or redirectors on the machine, I mean 100% sure. Have you run
any spyware tools on it?

If some malware had tried to "Hook" into IE and failed it may have left
some residue that is causing IE to choke and therefore the debugger
"Thinks" the fault is in IE, which I guess it "Is" at that point.

By no means sure about this but thinking out loud as it were.

Well, resetting the Internet Explorer settings should have removed any
add-ons. Sounds like it could be something installed on the System, could be
an AntiVirus program.

Well there seem to have been a number of things advertised (Pop up
blockers etc) that are quite unnecessary and quite poorly coded for XP
which caused similar trouble, I think because an "Illegal" hook would
work until some legal update came along and then the call was in the
wrong place. (Actually I was always suspicious of Yahoo Toolbar for this
reason although as usual can't prove it). Whilst this may not be
something obviously visible it may be working along those lines.

Been there and done that to no avail. Seems to be a problem with the IE 7
files. Firefox works.
