Internet Explorer 7

Dick Thompson

I know this has probably been asked before, but I see hundreds of messages
and can't go through all of them. So please accept my apology.

I let IE7 be installed as an upgrade on my system (XP Home), and as far as I
am concerned right now, it's a piece of garbage. Everytime I bring it up I
get a window that pops up and says that it has encountered a problem and
needs to be shut dow. So, I click OK and try again. Same thing. Maybe
once out of 10-12 tries will IE7 come up.

Is there a way to get IE6 back? I have defracted my HD and also my Registry
file since it was installed. I think I read on this group that if I
uninstall IE7 I will be put back to IE6. Is that correct. Or, if somebody
can tell me how to solve this error message problem everytime I bring up
IE7, that would be great.

Can anybody out there in cyber-land be of assistance to me.

Thanks in advance,

Dick

If you uninstall IE7, it will take you back to IE6. Future questions
about IE7 should be asked in its newsgroup (not this one) which is:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so it would be smart to start by going
to Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search term that describes your
problem, constrain the search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very
recently. Then you don't need to read through all the messages looking
for something similar to your problem.

You can also check MVP Sandi Hardmeier's canonical IE7 site. Sandi has
workarounds, known issues, troubleshooting, and links. This may be the
only site you need.

canonical - the authoritative host name stored in a DNS database that
all of an IP address’ aliases resolve to
OR
canonical - authoritative ?
Perhaps it's - conforming to an accepted rule or procedure ( So as not
to get burned by the infamous Flamethrower ;)
