Internet explorer 6.0 problem

Internet explorer 6.0 is able to open up web sites, but
when a link is opened, just a blank screen(window) opens.
Any ideas to the problem would be great. XP system.

i have the same problem, when i try to open what probably
is a .pdf i get a blank screen and a little box with a red
x in it.
