While running Internet Explorer 6.0, I randomly receive
this error message:

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close."

It happens quite frequently, basically everytime I run
the program. I searched the knowledge database and was
able to find problems very similar to this one, though
the specific identification names and numbers didn't
match. I also don't receive a specific error number when
the error message appears.

AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: imslsp.dll
ModVer: 1.0.2.0
Offset: 0000a9d3

I'd appreciate any help that could be offered, thank you.

Have you recently installed ImSecure add in for ZoneAlarm?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Problem could be:
1. Temp internet files folder is full-ish - delete them
all.
2. a Virus!!!
3. IE6 needs to be re-installed

hope this may help

Thanks for the info everyone, but unfortunately I've
tried most of the options besides reinstalling IE 6.0
(which I'm afraid will need to be done).

I have the most recent Norton definitions installed,
haven't detected any viruses (though I do have an issue
with that as well, planning on posting it another time,
it won't properly load a Client file). I've had AdAware
for about a month, I use it regularly. I clean out my
temp. files and cookies regularly. I also use both
ZoneAlarm basic and IM Secure (I wish this wasn't a two
party deal, most people don't have it). Any other
suggestions before resorting to a total uninstall and
reinstall?

Within the details of the error report is listed ModName:
imslsp.dll. I searched out the file, checked the
version, and found this: "IMsecure components for
securing MSN/AIM-OSCAR/YIM protocols". It's a product of
Zonelabs, and it would seem most of my problems began
when I downloaded and installed IM Secure. Should I
uninstall and remove the program and see if it makes a
difference?

Try uninstalling the IMsecure addin for ZoneLabs. Steve (mac) already
suggested that is probably the problem.

Matthew, you are missing the point?
What I attempted to point you to, is that the IM secure is the problem!
since the imslsp.dll is part of that application.
The poster in the link that i provided uninstalled IMS and the problem went
away.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought you were
suggesting I download it. I tried accessing the link and
the browser terminated...anyway, turns out not to be a
complicated problem since I figured it out myself (though
I wouldn't have had to if I read your post properly).

Thanks for the help.
