Internet errors with Win 2K

When surfing the internet without any problems, suddenly and periodically my
browser (both IE6 and Firefox 1.5.0.4) cannot find any named web pages.
Rebooting usually seems to alleviate the problem, but is extremely annoying.
I can ping a numerical address, but not a web page name. I have tried
flushing the DNS, renaming HOSTS, running LSPfix, uninstalling and
reinstalling the communication and networking software (Client for MS
network, File and Printer sharing, TCP/IP, Winsock, and Winsock2), and
replacing the network card, but nothing has helped. I would appreciate any
suggestions to solve this problem.

Aumha.net provided the solution after a lot of work - the culprit was Norton.
I removed it all and solved the problem. No more Norton for this guy.

Thanks, Frank, for the links.
