Internet connectivity- lost after microsoft patches

I have just applied 7 of the latest microsoft hotfix patches . Upon
restarting PC have lost internet connectivity through windows XP. Have run
all diagnostics every thing looks fine. Pinged IP's DNS 's you name it . Gone
through Windows WInSoc diagnostics. I am connected to internet but windows
wont let me connect. I have spent ages tring to resolve. I am running
internet explorer(2) I heard that version 6 might have aproblem after the MS
hot fixes but not this version.
Patches down loaded were 834707,873337,885836,885884,886185,890175

DNS fails: restart windows, after you go to start/run, and type CMD, then at that prompt type: IPCONFIG /flushDNS and then :
IPCONFIG /registerDNS
