Windows XP, Home Edition, when I try to "dial up" a
connection, I get an error message "remote computer will
not respond". I can dial the same # on my phone and get
the weird computer beeps and squeals. I can also fire up
my old computer, Windows 95, and get a connection. Any
idea as to the problem?

Thanks,
Gerald

You could always try going to network connections, dial-
up connections, and deleteing the dial-up connection. then
call your ISP and get the DNS nuumbers for the connection
and set up a new one manually. Don't forget to remove the
ISP's software from your system in the add/remove software
section of control panel.
I find this generally works unless your on AOL, (if you
are, switch to anything else NOW)and also has three
benifits #1 you don't have to load the connection
software,so it initalizes faster #2 you will often get a
cleaner slightly faster connection, and #3 you don't take
up space on your Hdd with software you probably don't need
anyway.
Hope this helps,
BUD
