internet connection sharing

How do I go about setting up a shared internet connection
using a LAN connection and a wireless connection. The
LAN is connected to the modem, and I want to share it
through the wireless card. I've tried setting it up,
going to the properties and sharing the connection. I've
tried microsofts self help, and I follow it all until the
last step, which says: "Under Internet Connection
Sharing, in Home networking connection, select any
adapter that connects the computer sharing its Internet
connection to the other computers on your network. The
Home networking connection is only present when two or
more network adapters are installed on the computer."
How do I set this up?

You might not need Internet Connection Sharing. If you've enabled it,
disable it. Then, create a network bridge between the LAN connection
and the wireless connection. I've written a web page with details:

XP ICS - Network Bridge
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/networkbridge.htm

Reboot the ICS computer, then reboot the other computer and try
accessing the Internet.

If that doesn't work, delete the network bridge and enable Internet
Connection Sharing on the LAN connection. If your computer has only
the LAN connection and the wireless connection, you won't see an
option to select the home networking connection -- it will
automatically use the wireless connection.

Hi.

ICS solution as mentioned above is free and the link in the post above is
very thorough.

You should Try it.

However many Entry Level Wireless Hardware do not work well under the combo
of ICS and Ad-Hoc connection.

For small investment you can get a Wireless Cable/DSL Router, and get a Good
Stable connection.

Example: Wireless Cable/DSL Router for $9.99 after rebate:

(the rebate is at the end of the page).
