work.

Are you seeing an "Internet gateway" connection? If so, it IS your
router. Clicking that connection lets you monitor and control your
router, and disabling that connection tells your router to disconnect
itself from the Internet.

If that doesn't help, please reply to this message in the news group
(not by E-mail) with more information to help other people understand
the problem:

1. Where do you see this connection?
2. What's its name?
3. What happens when you click it?

Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group
for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions
addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups.

It was called Internet Gateway
It appeared in the Network Places along with a LAN
connection. If I clicked on it it would bring up a
status screen similar to the one that the LAN connection
did. It was not there before but I changed routers and
used the WIndows Internet Wizard to creat a new
connection with ICS. The wizard was not clear enough
when using a router and creating a LAN connection. So I
chose what made sense. Then this icon showed up and I
could not connect to the net at all. I fixed it by going
back to the old router and disabling its firewall.
Seems to be working now.
Thanks for your help
