What kind of hardware do I need to share a cable modem connection between two computers? Do I really need a router? or can i use a hub

u should not need a router or a hub for just connecting 2 computers all u need is
a patch, cross over cable not network cable unless u r using a hu
2 network cards installed on both computer

and your don

if u need more help use my e mail addres

A hub might work if your ISP allows you more than one IP address, but then
you might also get charged extra for the second IP address. If your ISP
only allows one IP address then only the first computer to connect will see
the Internet, the other will be shut out.

With a hub each computer makes its own connection to the cable modem. A
router makes the connection to the cable modem for you, then shares its
connection.
