internet connection sharing - not quite working

Hi, I have set up a LAN at home, and can file share and print share but
cannot get the internet connections sharing working on the 'client computer'.
I have run both the network setup wizards and the internet connection
wizards to no avail. The client computer was our primary internet connecting
computer and I thought the problem might be with it having the modem etc
installed so have uninstalled that but still no luck. I have used an RJ 45
cable to connect the 2 comps. Both have the relevant NICs (the host has 2).
I am connected to the net via ADSL broadband on a PPPoE set up. Any advice
would be appreciated.

What exactly is (or isn't) happening on the client? You didn't give
us much information.

Do some web sites display OK and others time out? That's a common
problem when sharing DSL connections that use PPPoE. Here are two
possible fixes. Either one of them should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 2 on the host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computer, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client, or use
DrTCP to make it:

If that doesn't help, please post another news group message with full
details of the problem. Describe what works an what doesn't work,
and give the full text of all error messages. Include any other
information that would help someone else understand the problem.

Hi Steve, Thanks for those suggestions but no good I am afraid. Sorry I
didn't make myself clear. The host computer connects to the net and is fine.
The client computer will not connect to the net at all. I just get the
internet explorer error where it cant find the page I am looking for. Thanks
