Internet connection problem

today i tried to access the internet on my main pc..but whenever I opened the
'internet explorer' application a pop-up appeared sayng 'unknown winsock
error'.Whenever i tried to connect to msn hotmail messenger it would say that
i am not connected to the internet. i checked all connections on the computer
yet the internet is fine since it is working on my laptop..can anyone help me
with this problem??

the netsh command in SP2 can rebuild the Winsock catalog. Open the command
prompt and type:
netsh winsock reset catalog
then press ENTER.
