Hello, I have a small home network with 11 computers all
hooked up to a router for my internet connection. (8
Windows 2000 and 2 Windows ME and 1 XP machine) All 11
work great. I recently hooked up another windows XP
machine and and now some machines don't get an internet
connection. I have swapped cables from the ones that
connected with the machines that don't connect and no page
can be found. I also tried the other way and those
machines still don't connect. I have the connect lights
on on the NIC cards. Would this be some setting? I tried
removing the drivers and reinstalled them. Same results.
I tried doing a setup of the connections tab in internet
explorer. Any Ideas????? Thanks

I assume all computers are getting internet access via the router and not through ICS
hopefully. Use Ipconfig /all on the problem computer to see what it reports as IP
address to be sure you do not have any duplicate IP addresses on the network and that
the XP computer does not have the same IP address as the lan side of your router
which would probably be 192.168.0.1 or such. If problems persist, you may want to
replace the nic on the XP Computer to see if that helps. --- Steve
