(I know that subject line isn't too clear but I don't know how else to
describe the problem.)
I am connected to the Internet via DSL, and my DSL modem (external) has a
built-in router so it handles the PPPoE connecting automatically; I don't
have to log in or "connect" to the Internet when I boot the PC.
I recently did a reformat and fresh install of WinXP and now whenever I boot
the PC, the first time I start IE, it can't access the Internet (it reports
that it can't locate the site I'm trying to browse). If I close IE and
immediately restart it, it works fine.
The same thing happens with Mozilla Firefox, by the way, so it's not an IE
problem.
Also, if I start IE and it can't connect, and then start Firefox (or
vice-versa), the second one I start up connects just fine.
So what exactly is going on?
