Internal speaker problem

Hi! When I adjust the volume in windows (via the system tray) my computer (not the speakers) makes a *loud* beep sound....this sound seems to have no relation to the volume level, as it is always the same volume; but the beep is undeniably caused by adjusting the volume. Is there a way to disable this (keeping in mind I already have "PC speaker" muted in the volume control.
Thanks!

Some BIOS manufactures have the option to disable the onboard speaker.
However in do so, when a startup problem occurs during the computers power
on self check you will not hear any audio error sounds.
