I've been using Excel since version 2.2a and this is the first time I have
come across this issue.
There are three tabs as follows:
sheet C -> Raw data
sheet B -> Calculations on raw data in sheet C, and will display in cell a1
sheet A -> contains various formulas and cell references, one of which is
"=sheet B!a1", without the quotes, obviously, placed in cell a17
Whenever we change the data in C, the value in sheet B cell a1 updates
correctly. However, sheet A cell a17, which references sheet b cell a1 does
not update automatically. If we click into a17 and press enter, it will
update. From that point forward, any changes we make in sheet C will be
updated in sheet A a17.
There are more than three tabs in this document (closer to 30 or so), but I
only listed the pertinent ones. Tools-> Options -> Calculations = Automatic
and "Calculation" is not displayed in the status bar. Circular reference
notation is not displayed either. The only thing that shows is "Ready" and
"Num".
As if this wasn't unusual enough, it does not happen consistently. It
happened yesterday, but didn't happen the previous ?? times the document was
open. The two times it was opened before that, it did happen though. No real
identifiable pattern.
FYI: Win 2K Pro SP4 build 2195, IBM Netvista with 1.8 GHz P4 256 MB. Office
XP Pro installed. Excel 2002 (10.6501.6626) SP3
