Internal HDD Hardware advice.

Looking to install a second internal HDD on desktop XP.
without opening the case do most desktops provide cabling
for a second HDD.
What about a tray for removable HDD?
would they fit? do they fit in a normal bay space?

You cannot do it without opening the case, unless you use an external drive
connected via a port, eg usb, firewire, esata whichever is avilable on your
PC.
A removable HD tray generally fits in a large bay space
Generally, a PC case has bays / connections for extra internal drives but
without knowing the specifics of the case?
HD's are commonly avilable in two physical sizes
What concerns you about opening the case?

You're really going to have to open the case to see what you've got in
there. Yes, most computers have a place to connect a second hard drive
but it really depends on the case design whether this is going to be
practical. It also makes a difference if the drive that's in there is
SATA or IDE. As for the removable hard drive, again you're just going to
have to look. There are umpty-ump case designs and no one can give you a
definitive answer without actually looking at and opening yours.

It is Saturday and to get the case open
before the shops shut was a bit close its in a "built in cupboard.
I was cutting corners.
I searched google but no case shown for
computercorp enterprise desktop.
(I bought it second hand at auction)
I'll excercise patience.

I installed a second hard drive on an HP (SFF). The case did not have a slot
for the second drive, so I opted out of a floppy drive (who uses those
anymore anyway?) and put the extra HDD in that place. The hard drive
probably needs to be a slim design to fit in the floppy's slot, and even
then, a small bit of dabling needs to go on to secure it. But it's really
not that hard. So, if you're out of physical room inside the chassy, that's
one option.

Also, If you have an IDE HDD and the motherboard has SATA connections, you
can easily get adaptors. So basically, you can always make it work...no
matter what.

Anyhow I bought all the gear, including tray for removable drive (USB conn)
The only thing I didn't buy were the cables cables,
The Techie, (family friend) arrives tomorrow
and hope we can get it all fitted, including new DVD drives
I am usiing IDE drives all, at the mo.
