intermittent performance problem

Is there a tool to detect process running under Win 2000? Two to three times
per hour my PC appears to lockup 5 to 10 seconds, the screen will flicker
and IE's home page will be reset. It started recently with a virus checker
and Windows update. I would need a tool to show what was running at the time
this happens. Do any of SysInternals tools do something like that?

thanks

Bob I said:
Taskmanager.

I should have asked for something that generates some type of log. While my
PC is lockedup Taskmanager won't start and when it does its too late to
catch it. I'd rather not sit and watch it either.

thanks

You could leave it run minimized.
