Intermittent Choppy Playback

I have transferred about 10 minutes (6 GB) of video from my camera to my PC
and I've been using MovieMaker 2 to edit it. Everything was working fine
until yesterday when the playback from within MovieMaker became very choppy.
I'm pretty sure the problem is that Windows can't get the video data off the
disk fast enough but I can't identify anything I changed on my PC or any
rogue applications.

Have others had a similar experience?

Any suggestions on what I might be able to do to get back to the time when
the playback was smooth?

Thanks,
Mark

dv-avi (uncommpressed) movies play back at a very high bitrate. It is not
unusual for me to have the problem you describe. try shutting down any
unused programs and processes to free up your PC a bit, as this might help.

the good news is while this makes it hard to edit and preview, it will have
no effect on your final movie.
