Interface Problems - Can't download or send or delete. Server OK

I can go thru web-mail and download / send, but can't do it from the desktop.
It says I have an Interface problem. I can't delete or add information to
my calendar as well. It is connecting to the server to send messages, but
doesn't delete them afterwards - they stay in my outbox. I've tried
reloading Microsoft Office but didn't change anything.

Outlook version? What is the exact text of the error message?

Microsoft Office XP Professional with Publisher Version 2002
The error message is:
"The messageing interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."
I removed the MS Office software and reloaded - that didn't do anything.
I did check my virus protection and I have 4 virsus files in the "vault"
They are:
Virus found Win32/Antinny (Filename: (e-mail address removed))
Trojan horse Downloader.Generic5.PIO (Filename: aaw2007.exe)
Trojan horse SHeur.CKV (Filename: psa30se_ytb612_a705_DLM_enu_full.exe)
Trojan horse Generic.CNM (Filename:
_restore{325C1DA8-12F2-4CBC-9BC8-541C2153A70B}\RP114\A0057391.dll)

Reinstalling Office rarely fixes these issues because Outlook leaves a lot of
its old files untouched when you reinstall. You can, however, try running
Detect and Repair from the Help menu in Outlook -- make sure you have your
Office installation CD handy.
