Interesting problem with the browser

Hello!

I am running W2K with IE6.0. After monkeying around with
some popup-cleaning software I screwed up my browser
settings so it gives me DNS error every time I load it.
However I can ping any site and DNS resolution works. I
still can use my Explorer.exe as a browser. Moreover if I
load some page in Explorer.exe I can load the same page
(and only it) in Iexplore.exe as well.

Any ideas as far as how to fix my browser?
