Recently had a problem with Norton Internet Security 2003 on my XP - SP-2
machine. It decided it would not live update. I worked for days on the
Symantec Knowledge Based System and did EVERYTHING they told me to and
finally tried to uninstall and reinstall - even to the point of MANUALLY
uninstalling - yes including the registry according to their procedure et
al. I finally gave up and I'm not the type to do that and installed a trial
version of NOD32. With that in my pocket I went back into the registry
looking for more Norton left over and found legions of it. Symantec/Norton
sucks to beat the band!

A popular registry cleaner would rid you of such invalid entries.

I disagree with you. Norton should provide the means to completely clean the
registry of their product whether it be automatic or manual. You cannot
reinstall their product unless you do so. A registry cleaner will do nothing
specific but will only clean your registry of general invalid entries.

Oh? But what I say is not true?

I agree, but then again I hate the bulk of their products. I like
Ghost and I suppose the aquisition of Partition Magic I like that too.

Remnants of uninstalled applications are general invalid entries :)

Whatever I do I continue to get the message about some lable disk which I do
not possess. So I have moved on to NOD32. I still have the Norton program on
a Win 98SE machine that I ocasionally use. We shall see.

This utility should remove those registry entries for you.
