Intellitype Pro 2.2 optical mouse stays on after shutdown

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me fix my
little mouse problem.

When I 'Restart' my computer, the mouse light goes off
and then back on as it should. However, when I Shutdown
the light stays on. The light doesn't even flicker in the
shutdown process and to turn the mouse off, I have to
pull out the cable at the back of the computer and put it
back in and it then stays off.

While I know my mouse probably just wants to stay up and
party, this doesn't appear normal for a mouse and I would
like to correct this problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I made a mistake in my first post. I actually
meant Intellipoint 4.1 Optical Mouse.

Set the properties so the USB port mouse doesn't bring the
computer out of stand-by or hibernation, the port will then
shutdown (power off).

it was just a small problem but it has driven me mad for
weeks and I have reinstalled and changed drivers yadda
yadda yadda. I didn't think to check the port and change
it to USB.
