Intellimouse missteps

When I move the cursor to what I want and left click, The
cursor jumps away and I must repeat this again before it
gives me what I am clicking on. I have 5V 20ma 3892A378
Win 2000 Please help Thanks
 
Either you have a "prank" program running that is messing with your
mouse cursor, or the mouse is damaged. I would suspect the former.
