Intelligent people

There are many kinds of intelligent people. Some are natural computer
hardware geeks. Some are natural engine geeks. Some are natural "grow
things" geeks. Some are natural animal geeks. Some are natural software
geeks.

There are artist geeks, history geeks, and poetry geeks...

ETC.

In any case... be cool about intelligent people who come here ~who are
not computer hardware geeks~.

Many geeks who are not hardware geeks have problems that are NOT
directly hardware-related. BUT THEY MIGHT BE EXCUSED FOR THINKING THAT
THEY ARE.

Please, dear people, don't attack newbies just cos they obviously aren't
tech-savvy.

Well they should have killed themselves if they do not know everything at
birth; saving the trolls time to flame other people nothing.

As long as they can read.

Or they might come here with obviously software related problems
that are better posted to a Windows group or at least labeled OT.

I don't see it. And the only reason I can see for doing that in
certain situations is if the person asking isn't skillful enough to
implement the required fix. In that case, there might be a good
reason to shun them.

All I really care about is that they are smart enough to HAVE BACKUP
COPIES OF ANY IMPORTANT FILES. It's the Golden Rule.

I have a friend... He is a renown scientist and an inventor who made
quite a bit of money off several of his patents. He can fix an engine,
or a TV set, you name it. But he is a total dumbfuck when it comes to
software. And although he is probably smarter than you and me
combined, he does not have copies of his important files.

Shun people that are not all knowing, or should we try to teach them what we
know and help them on their way?

Such as those with complete lack of social skills.

I've been actively/successfully finding help on USENET for many
years.

What is your problem?

The main problem I have had lately is not being able to locate my
headers...Thank you MB for solving this, and for proving my point regarding
those lacking any 'social skills.'

BTW and OT, Calling 120 percent of Usenet '"netcop wanna-be trolls" is sad
to say the least, it also excludes you from adult conversations for the next
few years.

That shouldn't interfere with our conversations.

Maybe you should become some sort of judgmental sociologist
when you grow up.
