a friend is trying to reinstall windows xp
and receives the fileintelide.ys is corrupted

he was getting a NTLDR type error when starting windows xp, so tried to
reinstall windows xp from the disc,
windows websited didn't offer much help.

How to reinstall windows xp? or fix the ntldr problem

Not sure if that will help, the xp disc will startup, scan most of the
sytem, but then will give that error?

What exact microsoft windows xp home disk type is it ? ( OEM , Upgrade or
Retail )

It is a full version of Home Version of Windows xp CD rom
Not an OEM or preinstalled nor a upgrade.

my guess: you're asking it to do a upgrade install, and it found a driver
it didn't like (ie, not xp compatable). Do a clean install and this won't
happen. Or, uninstall that bad driver: again, I'd guess it's the Intel
Application Accelerator, which worked ok in W98 but is not needed at all
in XP. Check the 98 add/remove programs tool, if you see that beastie
installed then remove it and reboot. Disk should still work just fine,
perhaps not a speedy, but then you're going to upgrade anyway.

best advice: do a clean install, it's safest and leaves no "garbage"
behind.
