Intel ViiV software update for HP

D

Doug Smith

Hello,
I have a vista premium 32-bit system. I consistently get a reported
problem "Problem caused by Intel ViiV Software Update for HP". I don't
have anything in my PC manufactured by HP, at least not that I know.
Asus P5K motherboard, intel cpu, WD harddrive, etc...

I can hardly find any info on this. Intel's website doesn't say much
and it pretty much only discusses viiv when upgrading from XP to Vista.
I have a brand new PC that's never had XP on it, so that's not my problem.

I found a support link on the HP site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...softwareitem=pv-48265-3&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

I tried to install this update but it said that I didn't meet the
minimum requirements.

Any ideas on what is going on?

thanks

Which brand/model is your PC then? Have you contacted the manufacturer
support in regards to this issue?

I built the PC myself, it's not a brand. Asus motherboard, Intel cpu,
OCZ memory, WD harddrive, Vista OEM. It would appear that the issue is
from the OEM version of Vista I think.

I had the same problem... all you have to do is go to control panel,
programs and features then select HP Update or something along those lines,
it should have the date that you started to have problems. Uninstall the
update and you shouldn't have anymore problems.

Is lmpgspl.ax on your system? If I recall correctly, there's an error
response surrounding the Ligos MPEG filters (which are not supported on
Vista) that points you to this exact ViiV update. It was updated last week
for clarity, mentioning that if the ViiV update isn't applicable, you could
also uninstall the rogue codec pack that did this, unregister the Ligos
filters, uninstall the Ligos filters, or simply delete those binaries.

The exact crash report data as found in the Problem Reports and Solutions
center under View Information would probably point to the exact culprit
here.

I have the same problem and HP support cant give a sollution. I searched and
found a sollution.
go to this site: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html
download and start Installedcodec.
search for three codecs named:
Ligos MPEG audio decoder
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, splitter
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Video decoder

disable them and your problem is over.
and everything still works fine.
suc6 and let me now if it works for you and others too ......
