Intel pci driver update destroyed connectivity

After d/l and installing all necessary windows updates, I did same with Intel
pci driver update available from site and then couldn't connect to internet.
Thank goodness for two computers.

The problem system is running Win98 and had no other internet connectivity
issues prior to this. We share a router to the same cable modem, and I
cannot even get the computer to recognize or reinstall the external modem
connection. Yikes.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I work from the internet and don't always
have access to this second computer as it is My partners. Please email or
post.

Hi Diva,

Windows 98 is no longer supported, so the driver update that you dl and
installed is probably not compatiable (Intel should have done a test in the
install program to test compatiability)

I think you will have to revert to the old driver. Its been a long time
since I have done it on a 98 machine.

I think its Control Panel>Add/Remove Hardware
Select your Modem, Drivers Tab - I think there is an option to remove it.
Then replace it with the original. Your original 98 installation disk should
have a suitable driver.

If you don't have your 98 disks you may like to try
http://www.totallydrivers.com for an archived copy of the appropiate 98
compatiable driver.
