Intel Extreme Graphics vs. ATI Radeon 9200

Hello,

which GPU is performanter in the same hardware-enviroment? Intel Extreme
Graphics from the Intel 865GV chipset or a ATI Radeon 9200 graphic card?
Thank you.

What are you doing with it? The ATI card will out perform
on games and such but the on-board Intel graphics are just
fine for surfing, and office applications, even
photo-editing.

Any add-on/separate video card will always out-perform most on-board video
cards.

Also, the ATi video card is one of the card that most games are compatible
with (although the 9200 is very low-end!)

Some boards with Intel Extreme Graphics will perform as well as the Radeon
9200. A lot of the answer depends on the amount and type of system ram as
the Intel shares the system ram. So the answer is "it depends". Usually the
ATI Radeon 9200 on a add in card will outperform the built in Intel Extreme
Graphics with the 865GV chipset but there are exceptions. Both are suitable
for a home system that does some gaming. For a serious gamer both are
lacking in performance.

Isn’t it fairly obviuse?

The Radeon obviusly.

The Intel 865GV is desighned to allow the computer to work effectivly,
but not to play games such as Doom 3 or Half-Life 2.
