Intel Chipset .INF bugs, possible Component Designer bug?

Hi,

I was working on componentizing the drivers for the Intel(R) 82801GBM
SATA AHCI Controller (also, the other drivers in iastor.inf and
iaahci.inf). So I:

a) Downloaded the IATA621.EXE RAID/AHCI drivers setup file from
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/scr...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng

b) Ran the installer as iata_enu.exe -a -a -pc:\intel_drivers
c) Imported the .inf files in C:\intel_drivers into Component designer.

It didn't work! I got "Error occurred while getting the vendors list
section name"

After scrounging around the net, I found a couple of helpful forum /
newsgroups posts:

http://www.xpefiles.com/viewtopic.php?t=313
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...t&q=error+occurred+while+vendors+list&rnum=2#

I fixed my own .inf files by removing the NTamd64 [manufacturer]
information and the [NTamd64] section and all it's information.

So, is this a bug in Component Designer, or in Intel's .inf files?

Thanks, and hope this helps someone out there!

Hi Adam

When you use a XP 32 bit driver only, then you will get no problem.
64 bit sections as well as older windows sections interfears the inport
procedure.

If you want, you can use the Intel Chipset Driver component
on www.xpefils.com. I have componentized the newest Intel
chipset-Driver INFUpdate there. 82801GBM is also included.

....and yes, it was a pain in the a....

:)
