Integration with MsAccess and Limitations

Guest

hi all,

Which are best ways to integrate with ms access.

I have a Access Database size around 800MB and every month the size get's
increasing by about 200MB. so i am worried that some or other day it will get
crash.
Can it be better to shift to oracle or any solutions for existing MsAccess
Database

what are the limitations of using ms access database
How stable it is to use access database. When can it get crash.

Thanks

2GB is the limit for Access.
So yes you have to upsize in time
Compact the Db often to avoid Crashes (will take time with your Db)

Hi Sachin,

the maximum size of an mdb file is 2 GB (including system objects) but
you can split your your tables in more than one mdb file if necesary,
and link all tables to the same front end mdb in such a way that the
size all mdb is less than 2.000 MB.

If you have no other concerns and you can solve the size problem,
Access is as stable as other databases specialy if using the aplication
from one system. If using it in a LAN, the Access stability will depend
of the number of users, the reliability of the net, the database
design, etc.

Go to Tools - Database Utilities and try a Compact and Repair on your
database. You most likely will get a big surprise.

Look for what is causing your database to rapidly escalate in size. Some
likely causes are ---
* Routinely deleting and reentering data in your database tables
* Adding and storing images directly in the database

Most people here have a common belief that the newsgroups are for *free exchange of information*.
But Steve is a notorious job hunter in these groups, always trying to sell his services.

He is known here as a *shameless liar*, with *no ethics at all*.
If you provided a valid email address he might even spam you with an offer for payed help

Before you intend to do business with him look at:

You know, if you just provided a website link in the signature line of
messages, and maybe a few sample databases there to which you could direct
people from time to time (as others do), I doubt you would hear much
criticism. I have checked your web site a few times out of curiosity.
Excel/Access tips have been "Coming Soon" for rather a while. Maybe it's
not such a good advertisement.

Why would you list participation in newsgroups among your resources on your
web page? Do you really want somebody to search newsgroups for your
postings?
