G

Guest

Hallo.
I have integrated all security patches to my Sp2 installation point today.
But i have problem with KB885250. I get following error

"An error accurred while attempting to integrate thos software update
package. Verify that the architecture, language, and service patch level of
this software are valid for the target distribution folder."

It's work manually to install the application, and later in the installation
with run once.. But i want to have all patches integrated.

Hello,

I would like to confirm my understand that you have encounter the error "An
error occurred while attempting to integrate this software update " when
you integrate KB885250 in to SP2 installation point. Please correct me if I
am off base.

I understand this may be an urgent issue on your side. Please know that
registered Technet subscribers have priority to receive responses from
Microsoft Support Professionals in the Technet newsgroups. By using your
registered email address, you are guaranteed a response, and will receive a
response more quickly.

Based on my research, this issue can occur because some files are
duplicated in the updates and the version is the same. I have reported this
issue to our Windows Update team for their immediate attention. For
example, Windows Update 885250 cannot be integrated to a folder after
Windows Update 885835 is integrated to that folder.

Taking the 885250 and 885835 as an example, I would like to suggest you
either integrate 885835 and the other updates before 885835, or please use
the following method to workaround this issue:

1. Download 885250 again from the following link to the hard drive.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?FamilyID=6df9b2d9-b86e-4924
-b677-978ec6b81b54&displaylang=en

2. Use the /X switch to extract the files to a folder.

3. You will see several folders in this folder:

sp1qfe
sp2gdr
sp2qfe
update

Please copy the sys file in SP2QFE along with the spcustom.dll file in the
update folder, and the file spmsg.dll to the i386 folder that contains the
integrated files.

After copying these 3 files to the i386 folder, the update 885250 has been
integrated to the folder.

I have found the following third-party article has discussed this issue and
list the link for your reference:

Rebecca!!

This response is FANTASTIC! I appreciate the detail and it is something I
have been wondering about myself with KB834707 and KB885835.. Matter of
fact I posted in response to someone else in :

microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment and
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Titled "Patch Slipstream Failure" on April 6, 2005. They were having
trouble with KB885835 and KB885894 where I was not having trouble with the
latter of the two, only the former and another they did not mention.

Thanks for the heads-up - I hope to see more on this in the future!
