"Insufficient system resources exist"

G

Guest

I am experiencing an interesting problem with system resources in Windows XP which, quite frankly, is driving me mad!!!

When the PC has been on for some time (say 10 hours +) it grinds to a halt and I get the following message when I try to open an application etc.

"insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service"

Nothing will fix it, other than to crash out and re-boot. The PC is then fine for another 10 hours or so.

I have already re-formatted this PC, reinstalled Windows XP and a conservative repertoire of well known programs, but to no avail.

Can anyone please tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? The PC is running perfectly, otherwise. I just wondered if there were any issues with Norton Antivirus, as this program seems to be quite memory intensive??? Spec: AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 1.80ghz, 512 RAM, Win XP (Home) fully updated with all patches.

Many thanks, Esmeralda

You have a memory leak somewhere...very hard to diagnose.
