Instant Viewer keyboard shortcut?

D

Dan

Does anyone know how I can get Instant Viewer assigned to a keyboard
shortcut or even a program shortcut? I installed Vista on my laptop and
installed the IntelliPoint software but without a MS mouse I am not sure how
I can get that functionality on my laptop. I imagine someone might have had
some luck getting a shortcut in the quick launch toolbar mapped to that
command. Thanks,

What are you calling the "Instant Viewer"?

Do you mean the Windows Photo Gallery? If so, you can open Start/All
Programs and you will see a shortcut to Windows Photo Gallery in the top
section. You can right click this shortcut and select to Pin to Start Menu,
Add to Quick Launch toolbar, or you can simply drag and drop the shortcut
onto the Desktop to create a copy of the shortcut.

If the Instant Viewer is an application that came with some third party
software, you will need to locate the program file and create a shortcut
from there.

Sorry about that - it actually came with the latest version of the Microsoft
IntelliPoint software for Vista (though I have read that it is also
available for XP too). It basically mimics the Mac OS X Expose feature
(http://davidbrunelle.com/2007/01/23/windows-vista-instant-viewer/). I am
not sure how the IntelliPoint software works and if there is a way to break
apart the mouse features. You customize the mouse buttons and select
Instant Viewer just like you would Auto Scroll or Back or anything else.

Sorry for forgetting to make that clear earlier.

Hi Dan

I use a third party trackball, so I don't see this instant viewer
application.

You might want to look in the Start/All Programs folder for an Intellipoint
folder. There may be a pre-configured shortcut to that application in there.

If you don't see one there, start the Instant Viewer program as you normally
do and then, while it is running, open the Task Manager (Right click the
Taskbar and select Task Manager) and look for the Instant Viewer in the
Applications Tab. If it is there, right click the program and select "Go to
process" to the programs executable file. You can then search for that file
and create a shortcut to it. Click the "Show processes from all users"
button at the bottom of the Task Manager window to make sure you are seeing
everything that is active.

I took a look at the program files folder and all I can see are dlls mostly.
That might be the reason why there does not appear to be any additional
processes starting when I start Instant Viewer - there are the same number
of before, during, and after I start the Instant Viewer as far as I can
tell.

If this is the case, you probably won't be able to create a shortcut for the
program. You might want to take a look at the help for Intellipoint and see
if maybe there is a keyboard shortcut that can be used.

Ok, thanks for your help Ronnie.
