Installtion on IBM ThinkPad T43

I removed Anti-Spyware (Beta 1) in order to install Defender (Beta 2) but
find that I cannot install because I have the wrong processor type, which
seems strange, to say the least.

Message displayed is:
'This installation package is not supported by the processor type.
Contact your product vendor.'
The laptop is running Windows XP SP-2 on an IBM/ Lenovo ThinkPad T43-2668
F5G with Intel Pentium M Processor 1.86 GHz with 1 GB RAM.

Any suggestions?

TIA,
Nick

Discovered the cause of problem (me!) I have to admit that I downloaded the
64 bit version... aaaaaah

(Constructive critism/suggestion: Pity the error message was not more
indicative of the cause of the problem. For such a simple error, which users
will make, it must be simple enough to indicate that the 64 bit version
cannot be installed and that the processor requires 32 bit version?)

This is indeed confusing to the users. It isn't so much the processor type,
as the OS version that changes the requirement from the 32-bit version to
the 64-bit version. I would think this could be done better.

I ran into the 'not supported by this processor' message as well. I didn't
find a 32-bit version. Did I miss something?

from memory, the 32 bit version link was above the description of the
application as a button/ banner link, whereas the 64 bit version was a normal
hyperlink underneath the description. (Hope this helps as I have not the
actual window displayed at present.)

If you downloaded from the "download" link, and the filename is
windowsdefender.msi (?)--you have the right version. I believe that some
folks may see this message if the download is incomplete or corrupted in
some way--doing another download, and making sure to save to a known
location---desktop, for example, and then run by double clicking after the
download completes--may help.
