InstallShield Wizard

I cannot install/uninstall anything that uses the InstallShield wizard. Task
manager shows that Ikernal.exe is using 100% of my processor. Nothing
happens, the installation/uninstallation just sits there forever. I am
running XP Pro SP2. I tried uninstalling SP2 and it still didnt work. I have
reinstalled, and the problem persists. The computer is clear of viruses, and
spyware, so I am convinced something is corrupt.

This is a new record for windows, 8 days after I reinstalled after getting
some new hardware, and it's already dead >.<

no such thing as Ikernal.exe on my machine xp pro sp2 so I would recheck
your virus and spyware software

I am pretty sure it just shows up when install shield is running... so I
don't think it is a virus.

I also have this since SP2 install last week - I also use NOrton IS 2005 and
systemworks 2005- I managed to het installer to work in diagnostic mode
