Jeff

I have a file called "installmw.exe" on my Windows Vista DVD.

It's located in the /support/migwiz/cable folder.

Does anyone know what this does? There's nothing on the Internet
about it and the guy at Microsoft said it was "molecular workbench."

Why would there be a "molecular workbench" installer on my Vista
DVD??? I purchased it retail at Office Depot.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

How is this related to the topic of this newsgroup, Windows Mail?

I don't understand what the problem is.
There are thousands of files on my Vista install DVD that I don't
know the purpose of, but that doesn't keep me from using the DVD
for its intended purpose.

Too lazy to look maybe?????????

I'm capable of doing a Google search, Peter, thanks for the link. If
you actually read any of the hits, you would see that, in fact, there
is nothing of substance on "installmw.exe." After your response, this
remains unchanged.

Thanks for nothing.

OK. Well I guess you did not understand what it said in those links. If you read through then you would have your answer to your question.

There is 230 articles there on installmw.exe on 9 pages. Did you look on page 6 and 9. I do not think so

There's nothing on the Internet about it

After saying the above the OP has not made an effort and he is presuming that others will do it for him. If he did not include the above line ,I would have looked at it different and would have done it for him. As it is I found the answer within 2 minutes on Google

I get 221 hits on 10 pages. When I click on page 10, it says "51 out
of 52 results" and the page numbering now stops at 6. That seems to
be what Google does nowadays. A search on "security" has over a
billion hits, but clicking through the results ends on page 85 with
"841 - 846" results displayed.

All the results I've seen for "installmw.exe" are torrent or crack-
related, i.e. they do not do explain what the file does, they just
list files. Prior to my newsgroup posting, there were (literally) 0
hits in "groups." Previously, I've found that no matter how arcane or
esoteric a subject was, I would never come close to being the only one
on the entire planet asking a question about it - there were literally
thousands of others in the same weird boat - which Google used to
promptly display. Things seem to have changed.

There is also a registry file in the same directory called
"migautoplay.reg" with a reference to "MagicUSBCable" which has 0
results.

Peter, please do what your signature line says and provide a link with
the explanation of the file "for the benefit of others." and we can
end this thread.

It's simply amazing the effort that someone will put forward to insult
someone when lending a helping hand would be trivial.

This, (microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail), is the wrong newsgroup for your
question Jeff.

Follow up set to microsoft.public.windows.vista.general, where you might get
your answer more quickly?
