Installing Yahoo/Hotmail/Gmail with Outlook

I am running Win XP (w/SP2). I recently purchased Office 2007 and thought I
might give Outlook a try. Perhaps "trying" is a better word! I diligently
followed all the instructions for setting up Outlook. However my problem
starts with inputting my name and password in each required spot (for example
in yahoo it is "incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com" and "outgoing:
smtp.mail.yahoo.com". After filling in everything, it goes out to send a test
message. All I get is a screen showing my name (jim1812) and password (say
'aardvark'). It does NOT recognize my name or password. Nor does it work
using my other mail sites (hotmail and gmail).
I have tried going thru my ISP to no avail and, unfortunately, can't get a
response from Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail.
Any suggestions what I am doing wrong? Or should I just say to heck with
OUtloook and stay with my other mail sources? I really would like to combine
ALL mail groups into Outlook.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Jim.

What instructions did you follow to set up Outlook? Also...

-- To use Yahoo's POP e-mail with Outlook, you need a paid Yahoo account
(perhaps you already knew that one since you have the server addresses);
-- To use Hotmail with Outlook you need to install the free Outlook
Connector -- get it at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6a-931e-438a-950c-5e9ea66322d4&displaylang=en
-- Gmail's POP/SMTP addresses should be available from their website, but I
believe they also use different POP3 and SMTP port numbers than many other
ISPs do.

When you add each of these accounts, do you also click the "More
settings..." button and make sure everything is correct there? Are you
properly authenticating to your outgoing server?
