I have downloaded the service pack to a floppy, but when I
go to install it, it says that I need an internet
connection, but the reason I am downloading the service
pack is to solve a problem with my modem. My modem is not
working. THank you for your help.

Windows XP SP1a is over 130MB in size it does not fit on a floppy.
Ensure you downloaded the correct file.
You need the Network Installation version for installation off line.

Hi.

If you can get someone to put it on CD for you that should sort out your
problem.

Hi, augdogg.

The small file you got onto the floppy was not the full Service Pack, but
just the installer program that tells your WinXP how to download and install
the whole 130 MB package. If your modem is too slow - or not working - you
probably need to order the SP on a CD-ROM. For that, go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/ordercd.asp

The price is $9.95 US, or $14.95 CDN - or click the link for other
international locations.
